Joe and SuzanneJoe Lindsay may be well known as a BBC Radio Ulster presenter, film critic and club DJ, but he admits to being "... very, very nervous about taking this on. I have so little experience of television. Everyone else on the team knew much more than I did and were completely confident about what they were doing".

What he feels singles out 'Ulster Fly' from other travel series is its 'warts and all' first-hand treatment of the package holiday experience.

"It was great to meet so many different people from Northern Ireland and have them give you the skinny on what worked - and didn't work - for them. It's totally different from looking at a brochure, where everything seems gorgeous and glossy.

"I will never forget watching the sunrise and sunset over the Sahara Desert or going to the crocodile farm on the Costa Del Sol - and jumping off a mountain, twice, in Austria. Terrifying for someone who has a morbid fear of heights. These are activities you don't associate with package holidays, but it gives you a new perspective on what's available if you are prepared to get off your backside and prise yourself away from the hotel pool".

Suzanne and JoeFor Suzanne Cowie, the series offered a welcome opportunity to work, for the first time, in her native Northern Ireland.

"It felt strange but wonderful, at the age of 30 and after living in London for so long, to be back home, with my Mum cooking and ironing for me".

A former pupil at Methodist College, Belfast and a media studies graduate of the University of Westminster, Suzanne started her career as a showbiz reporter and news reader on Live TV, where she read the news to the channel's famous News Bunny - "... experiences do not come much more surreal!" She was an assistant producer on The Big Breakfast, a documentary producer for Channel 4, a producer and director for London News Network and has presented a wide variety of series for Trouble TV, Challenge TV and the Living Channel.

She thoroughly enjoyed the hectic routine of flying around the world as part of the 'Ulster Fly' team.

"We had such a lot of laughs. Joe and I became like a screen husband and wife - for better, for worse! I ended up as the water action girl - windsurfing, water-skiing, snorkelling - which my friends will find hilarious, as I am definitely not the sporty type.

"My favourite destinations on the series were Amsterdam, which I can't wait to go back to. And I adored Tunisia, where I presented the segment from the Roman remains at Dougga, one of the most beautiful places imaginable".
