Direct flights from Aldergrove don’t start until Easter.
The beaches around Limassol have volcanic sand,
which is blacker than normal sand. It may not be to everybody’s
taste but one of its properties is that it does not stick to the body
quite as much as golden sand.
Food and drink: The food is pretty cheap. An omelette
and chips cost £2.35 and a beef burger will set you back about £1.50.
Kalamari, chips and salad costs about £3.95. Drink is also very
cheap especially the local beers. Keo beer is about £1.30 a pint.
The local spirits are also cheap, about £1.40 a measure
whereas if you wanted something imported like Bacardi or Jameson it works
out really expensive. If you want any drinks like that we suggest you
buy them in duty free on the way out.
Flying time: Flight time to Larnaca is 5 hours
Best time to visit: It can get very cold in Cyprus in
the winter. Joe and Suzanne were there in late April and the weather was
very reasonable.
