The sun-soaked island of Crete is the destination for the last in the current series of Ulster Fly along with Donna Gribben and Philip Doherty. They splashed out and stayed in five-star luxury at the Knossos Royal Village, a large complex on the edge of the busy resort of Hersonissos, the in-place for summer party animals.
The most popular resorts on the island are along the North-East coast. Many of them used to be sleepy fishing villages, but are now little more than continuous strips of clubs, bars, fast-food joints, restaurants and apartments.

Flying time: The flight time to Heraklion Airport is 4 hours
Best time to visit:
Spring and autumn, especially end of August to mid October
Language: Greek
Time Difference: GMT = 2 hour ahead

CreteExtra Info: Crete is the largest and southern most of the Greek Islands and is situated in the Mediterranean Sea.The transfer from the airport to Hersonissos takes about 40 minutes. Hersonissos is situated on the North coast only a short distance from the busy resorts of Stalis and Malia. Most Northern Irish holidaymakers will find themselves coming to the North East of the island and staying at one of these busy coastal resorts which are very busy and extremely popular with the eighteen to thirty age group. Expect big crowds in July and August. If you can possibly avoid these months, not only will you find it quieter, but you will be able to avail of some incredible package holiday deals.
Hersonissos, where we came to, is a sun and sea playground and has an abundance of restaurants, bars and clubs so if it’s a hectic party style holiday your after, you won’t be disappointed.
