Sex Bombs is a brand new comedy panel pilot show for BBC Northern
Ireland hosted by Irish comedy star Ed Byrne (Mock The Week, Have
I Got News for You) and features a team of male comedians versus a
team of female comedians trying to answer that age old question, “Who
are the best at everything, men or women?”
Captained by Jo Caulfield (Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Dawn French’s
Girls Who do Comedy) and John Bishop (8 Out of 10 Cats, Skins) every
topic under the sun comes under scrutiny in front of the studio audience
made up of 50 per cent males and 50 per cent females.

Unlike other shows where the host picks a winner, here in this programme
it is the studio audience which gets to decide which gender has made
the most convincing comedy argument, the men or the women.
Unfortunately for those in the audience the specially designed voting
equipment also allows the host to know exactly how everyone is voting
throughout the show, so if someone is consistently voting for the
women expect Ed Byrne to single them out for special attention.
Made by Belfast based Ulan Productions, producer Mark Benson thinks
it is unlikely the programme will ever run out of material. “When
we were making the show we discovered it’s not the big items
that men and women argue about it’s the little things, like
who’s the best chef, Gordon Ramsey or Nigella Lawson? Who needs
Sat Nav the most, women because they can’t read a map or men
because they refuse to ask directions? Or my own personal favourite,
pick 10 things in your living room that you think are useless and
who bought most of them, a man or a woman?”
Sex Bombs is on Friday April, 3 on BBC Two Northern Ireland at 10pm.
