There will be tricks and treats galore for six lucky party hosts as presenter Joe Lindsay enlists the help of some of the hottest, most exciting new magicians around to throw the ultimate party each week featuring jaw dropping magic tricks and some top quality tunes.
While Joe Lindsay will be providing the best party tunes each week by
rifling through his extensive vinyl collection for a playlist catered exclusively
for the party host, a different up-and-coming magician specializing in ‘close-up’ magic
will be
wowing party-goers each week with their mind-boggling tricks and illusions.
In the first programme of the new series, Belfast model Jude Nabney is
throwing a party to celebrate being named the face of Belfast Fashion Week.
While Joe Lindsay puts together her perfect party playlist with songs by
a wide range of artists including Mama Cass, The Killers, Hercules And
The Love
Affair and Fergie, magician Dynamo is on hand to add a touch of magic to
proceedings.
Dynamo, from Bradford, is one of the most hotly-tipped new magicians around and has performed for everyone from Prince Charles to Paris Hilton. With more than just a few tricks up his sleeve, his appearance at Jude’s party sees him perform some amazing card tricks and stunning illusions, including somehow collecting a mint from his throat by magically moving a necklace through his neck and even self-levitating.
Joe Lindsay says: “Making the series was very enjoyable and it was amazing to get six of the greatest close-up magicians around involved in the show.“From my perspective it was great to be allowed into people’s houses and have a nosey through their record collections, which every music fan loves to do.
There might have been some horrors among their records but even that proved to be a good laugh. We were involved in some great parties and it was really good of people to let us be part of their celebrations and it was brilliant to see the magicians do their stuff in that environment.”
Producer Sarah Reddin, from Waddell Media who made the series for BBC Northern Ireland, says: “This was a really fun and exciting series to work on. All of the six magicians are young, cool and talented and we got to see them perform the kind of close-up magic that was both mind-blowing and fascinating to watch. Sleight of hand, card tricks and mind control are just some of the techniques used in the series and the reactions were real – completely mystified and amazed!”
Throughout the series, Joe will also throw a 21st birthday party, an
80s themed disco, a skater’s house warming party and a party for
a rock band. Other exciting magicians in the series are
Pete Hathway, Richard Bellars, Damien O’Brien, Laura London and Sam
Hurst.
Magic Party is a Waddell Media production for BBC Northern Ireland.
