About the programme
Losing the Plot was filmed over the course of a year at Annadale Allotments
in south Belfast.
The main focus in this humorous take on plot life are the plot-holders
themselves. The three-part series, which begins on Sunday, June 28 on
BBC One Northern Ireland at 6pm, was filmed between August 2007 and
last September, covering social events throughout the year, including
the Autumn Harvest Fair and the Christmas party concluding with the
annual flower show in Botanic Gardens.
Coming from a range of social backgrounds, age groups and levels of
gardening knowledge, the colourful characters help and encourage each
other. They also frequently play pranks and poke fun at one another.

No one is concerned about anyone’s profession or where they live. Each
is judged by fellow plot holders, and by the council who provide and
maintain the site, solely on how he or she maintains their plot.
The series demonstrates not only the high level of commitment needed,
but also the great fun and satisfaction to be had from being a plotter.
Joe King
Viewers will witness their desire to get close to nature and in some
measure control what food they consume in our frenetic, consumer-driven
society.
Losing The Plot is produced and directed by Eric Gillespie and Caroline
Boyle of the production company Actualeyes, who explain: “Growing your
own food couldn’t be more topical or relevant at the moment. Losing
the Plot proves it can also be tremendous fun!”
