IN COLD BLOOD

BBC ONE NI
MONDAY 6th JULY at 10.35pm (REPEAT)

Another chance to see the second series of the compelling crime documentaries which examine six successfully solved civilian murder cases from Northern Ireland.

In Cold Blood
About the Programme

The series examines the process behind six successfully solved civilian murder cases in Northern Ireland and gives viewers a fascinating insight into the world of forensic sciences, criminal investigations and into how murder cases are dealt with and solved here.

The series of In Cold Blood, produced for BBC Northern Ireland by Stirling Film and TV Productions, hears from the investigating teams including the forensic, pathology and police specialists involved in each case and how they pieced together the clues to solve some of Northern Ireland’s most high-profile murders.

Poignantly, the series also hears from the relatives of victims and their first-hand accounts and the impact the murders have had on their lives. We also hear from those people who were first to discover, what are often unforgettable, crime scenes.

The six programmes employ archive news footage, first hand testimonies and unrivalled access to the police investigations including actual photography from the murder locations.

Each programme builds up a sequential account of the victims’ last movements and demonstrates how the actual events took place, until each case was successfully solved. Producer Jackie Newell said: “This second series of In Cold Blood returns with six more high-profile cases.

Once again we have got fascinating insights into these cases including eyewitness accounts and from those on the investigative teams involved in the forensics, the pathology and from the detectives. The series gives viewers a rare opportunity to see the events and procedures that take place when a murder investigation is launched.”
