About Culture Club
A new, fun and upbeat series, for 7-11
year olds, which explores cultural diversity in Northern Ireland through
song and dance starts on Friday, April 24 on BBC Two Northern Ireland
at 11.40am.
The Culture Club is presented by dance coach, Ande Gray, and his team
of young Cultural Investigators. Their task is to find out more about
the festival celebrations of the Indian, Chinese, African and Portuguese
communities who live locally. The programme is accompanied by a website
which is packed full of games, information and The Culture Club downloads.
Each week The Culture Clubbers accept a mission to investigate the music,
dances, costumes and recipes which bring cultural celebrations to life.
They get the lowdown on the Holi Festival, Chinese New Year, St Anthony’s
Festival and the Jamaican Carnival. Then it’s back to The Clubhouse
to learn a new song and dance routine before inviting friends round
to join in the celebration. Viewers are encouraged to get up and take
part in the dance and sing out loud with the Culture-oke!

Ande Gray with the Culture Clubbers
The Culture Club is hosted by new presenter
Ande Gray, ably assisted by young Dylan, Farrah, James and Thady who
have been out and about making new friends as they discover the vibrant
cultural diversity of Northern Ireland. Over the course of the four
part series almost 70 children have been involved in the production!
Series Producer, Emma Dunseith says; “The Culture Club is colourful,
lively and fun! It encourages children to get involved in dance and
explore the traditions of the people who live around them. New presenter
Ande Gray has added a fabulous energy to the programme – he’s a real
natural in front of the camera and I’m sure we’ll be seeing lots more
of him in the future!”
The Culture Club website is a vibrant new creative space which complements
the TV series. It’s the place to be when it comes to discovering
The Culture Club! Find out more about dance coach, Ande, and our young
Culture Clubbers. Watch exclusive behind the scenes footage and create
your own membership card. The download section provides a tasty takeaway
of music, dance steps, posters, t-shirt logos and more!
