Life Diary
Year 3, Diary entry 26. 6 May 2004.
I don’t
know why I do it to myself but I tried to be a little goody two-shoes
this week for one of my music modules. Part of my music degree at
Queen’s is performance practise so I thought it would be a
great idea to get used to playing in front of an audience and when
the BBC were looking for some volunteers for a ‘Music Live’
gig Niall and I thought it would be great!
It was great up until the moment before I actually had to play and
my nerves kicked in. All eyes were on me and I have to say it was
all rather daunting! I got through it and part of me was actually
quite proud!
Apart from the Music Live gig I really didn’t bother with
much this week. I had sorta thought I should try and stay in and
do some sort of study you know, just so I could attempt to pass
my finals (!). However, Niall’s dad was up in Belfast conducting
a show in the Grand Opera House so when he wanted to go for an after
show drink to wind down we just couldn’t refuse!
We stumbled on a Blues night in the ‘Empire’ on Botanic
and after eventually getting to the bar, something that’s
hard to do when about a million people are standing in front of
it (!), we had a great night out!
It’s now getting to my final weeks at Queens and I’m
trying to stop the whole going to bars and pubs or even just lying
in the house watching ‘Neighbours’ and ‘Diagnosis
Murder’! Unfortunately I don't seem to have the will-power
or energy to get up from the sofa these days so unless there's a
programme on 'how to pass your finals' I can't see me moving to
study any time soon (although come back to me the night before an
exam and see how much revision I can get done in one night!)
