My Place, My Space
The BBC NI Tourism Challenge for Primary Schools is for 9 – 11 year olds. Classes are invited to show off their creative flair and local knowledge to create a child focused, multi-media travel guide for their area. This exciting project fits with CCEA’s ICT Accreditation Scheme.
If your class would like to take part in the competition, your teacher must call back here to register between 4th October and 17th December 2010. Classes not registered won’t be able to enter after that. There are great prizes too, so read on to find out more!
-
Get ahead by starting to think about the great place you live and what children might do there on a “day out”. You could start making notes about fun things to do or things to see – why not take some photos or visit the local library or nearest tourist information centre and do some research!
How would you describe your area? What makes it special? Is it in a town, or in the countryside? What can people of your age do? Does your area have a story to tell? How could you make a day in the life of your area interesting? What would visitors like to know? Are there any events or festivals that happen every year? Was anyone famous born there? If you had to “snap one scene” to show something you like most in your area, what would it be?
-
Don’t forget – your teacher has to visit this page to register your class – but only between 4 October and 17 December – after that it’s too late!
