ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
 
This programme focuses on issues and decisions influencing our public transport system. It considers the various forms available to road users and the reasons for their preferred choice of travel. The programme also describes the current situation in terms of pollution and its impact on health and our climate. The environmental, financial, economic and social effects are considered as well as the possibility of using alternative forms of transport. The programme concludes by questioning whether trams or trolleybuses are a viable option for the future.
 
LEARNING OUTCOMES

 
By the end of the programme pupils should be able to:

  • develop an understanding of the issues affecting public transport
  • understand there are sometimes more than two sides to a story
  • appreciate the advantages and disadvantages for preferred froms of transport
  • learn to respect and appreciate other points of view
  • consider a variety of ways of caring for our changing environment
