ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The programme focuses on issues and decisions relating to
the proposed controversial siting of a wind farm on the North
Antrim coast. By considering all points of view from the planners,
the local council, local businessmen and the general public,
we are asked to make informed choices based on the presentation
of the facts. The environmental, financial, economic and social
effects and implications are considered as well as the possibility
of using alternative renewable energy sources for the future.
The programme concludes by asking the listeners what they
would do to resolve the issue.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of the programme pupils should be able to:
- understand there are sometimes more than two sides to
a story
- develop an understanding of the controversial issues surrounding
wind farms
- have an understanding of "cause and effect"
- learn to respect and appreciate other points of view,
considering the consequences for decisions taken
- consider a variety of ways of caring for a changing environment
- explore an environmental issue affecting the local community.
