ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Silly sports reporter Dan talks to Northern Ireland’s young sports stars – swimmers, badminton players, a soccer captain, a gymnast, a motocross rider and a GAA champion. They tell him what fun exercise can be and highlight the importance of discipline and teamwork.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of the programme pupils should be able to:
- discuss what sport is and encourage classmates to participate at some level;
- recognise, through discussion and writing, the importance of individual dedication and the necessity of teamwork in many sports;
- identify the six sports disciplines referred to in the programme;
- be able to name the six counties identifying Northern Ireland using the acronym 'FAT LAD' or 'FAT DAD';
- write a short commentary for part of a sporting event.
