About the Unit
This is a unit of three programmes which goes behind the scenes to see how television and radio programmes are made. The programmes focus on three different areas - drama, news gathering and sports coverage. The unit has a number of cross-curricular points but is specifically intended to help teach Northern Ireland's curriculum for English.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the programme, the students should:
  • understand the importance of a written script as the starting point for television drama
  • have a basic understanding of how story and structure operate within a script
  • be more familiar with the hierarchical structures which are used in the making of film drama
  • have an understanding of the employment opportunities within drama production - across a wide range of skills - creative, technical and practical
  • see how drama manipulates reality - using locations, costume/make-up and performance
