The programmes all feature specific locations in Northern Ireland and they also provide scope for work on a variety of themes e.g. the environment, where people live, what people do. The aim is to provide material which is relevant to pupils' experiences and which is illustrative of life in Northern Ireland.

In this programme Christine Bleakley talks to children to hear what they think about a problem that has a devastating effect on many lives. The programme also features a story exploring the mind of a boy who likes to bully his classmates.
Key Issues
This programme examines bullying – the reasons why bullying happens, the effects it can have on people and ways it can be dealt with. Pupils are encouraged to reflect on various definitions of bullying and to generate ideas about how they might deal with "bullies" and "victims".
Before the Programme

  • Discuss the meaning of the following keywords:
    Bully, Victim, Physical, Bullying, Verbal, Bullying, Social, Bullying, Threaten(ed), Fear, Isolated, Sympathetic, Guilty Defendant, Verdict, Not Guilty/Innocent, Jealous, Defence.

After the Programme

  • Complete the activities and games in Worksheet 1.
  • Follow up on the topics using 'More to Explore' in Worksheet 1.
