In this unit of three Today and Yesterday programmes, local musicians take a fun, creative approach to playing a range of orchestral instruments.
Parents' Music Room
The Parents' Music Room provides guidance to ensure children develop their musical abilities to the full. There's information on everything from playing music to unborn children to identifying teen musical tribes!
R3 Music Games
Use these interactive games from BBC Radio 3 to stimulate children's musical creativity. They can create their own Latin and Cuban rhythms, explore the strange music of the Lizard King or help Peer Gynt escape from trolls!

Download a wide range of teaching materials and get advice on how to create your own scheme of work from this government web site. The materials cover topics such as exploring sound, duration, pitch, descriptive sounds and sound colours.
San Francisco Symphony - Kids
This Flash web site takes pupils through the very basics of music theory to tempo, rhythm, pitch and harmony. Children can view and listen to orchestral instruments, listen and play music and compose their own pieces.
