Musical Mysteries Homepage There are three ways in which the website can be used:

Note: Additional audio resources can be downloaded from the
Lesson Plan page and played to the class via the computer.

1.1 Using the website as a stand alone resource.

For teachers wanting children to work independently through the website, it is recommended that children are given a brief introduction to the resource:

  • Print out the images (download from Lesson Plan page) of Robbie, Grandpa and Curly. Introduce the children to the three characters, and explain to the children that: Robbie and Curly are at the Waterfront Hall, in Belfast, to see Robbie's Grandpa who is a conductor. Robbie's Grandpa has lost his music for the evening's performance, and needs their help to find it.
  • Inform the children they have eight activities to complete. As each activity is successfully completed they will be rewarded with a musical note. Each musical note leads the children onto the next activity, and eventually to the lost music.

Note: If possible students working independently should be supplied with a set of headphones.

Teaching Tip!

For children working in pairs, suggest to them that they take it turns to complete the activities. Ensure the children read through all the text, by encouraging one child to operate the mouse, while the other reads the text out loud.
