Joseph

Joe is 16 years old and is looking forward to starting another year at school. He will be studying for his AS Levels were he hopes to continue his studies in English, History and Media Studies.

“The project that I worked on for Newsline/BBC Blast was a marvelous experience for me. I worked on two stories. The first was an exploration of the notion that people here don’t have a great degree of knowledge about the geography of the place and the second was a little quirky piece about people who think it’s funny to interfere with camera crews and reporters. I was the assistant camera man. My job was to set up the camera equipment and to make sure it was all in perfect working order. I was also part of the editing team.

To be perfectly honest I enjoyed the whole experience. It was something that I had never done before yet found it very interesting. Of course I’m still no expert but I feel that I have learnt a lot from this. Not only how to work together in a group or to co-operate with each other but also to get used to the whole story making process. Before I thought that you just go out and make a story off the top of your head, but now I realise that it requires a lot of work to make a story come together before during and after filming.”
