“The project that I worked on for Newsline/BBC Blast was
a marvelous experience for me. I worked on two stories. The first
was an exploration of the notion that people here don’t have
a great degree of knowledge about the geography of the place and
the second was a little quirky piece about people who think it’s
funny to interfere with camera crews and reporters. I was the assistant
camera man. My job was to set up the camera equipment and to make
sure it was all in perfect working order. I was also part of the
editing team.
To be perfectly honest I enjoyed the whole experience. It was something
that I had never done before yet found it very interesting. Of course
I’m still no expert but I feel that I have learnt a lot from
this. Not only how to work together in a group or to co-operate
with each other but also to get used to the whole story making process.
Before I thought that you just go out and make a story off the top
of your head, but now I realise that it requires a lot of work to
make a story come together before during and after filming.”
