  blast on the box

The current series of Blast on the Box, featuring the creative talents of all the young people who have worked with Blast in the last year has just finished. If you missed it, don't worry! All four programmes will be available on the Blast website very soon, where it'll be sticking around for a bit longer!

And if that wasn't enough, a brand new series will be hitting your screens this Autumn! Keep your eyes peeled on the Blast website for more info.

Programme 1: ACTION!
Friday 22nd May, 2009 - BBC 2 Northern Ireland - 11.40 - 12.00

Go behind the scenes with a group of talented young filmmakers from the National Deaf Children’s Society, before watching their film ‘Murder at the Manor’ - a murder mystery with a twist. Watch all the thrills and spills as the young people come together on location to make this period ‘Whodunnit’. The young people fill all the roles from clapper loader to set dresser, as well as providing the script and acting all the parts. The journey behind the scenes culminates in a chance to watch their gruesome film. Can you spot the twist?

Programme 2: THE BANDWAGON
Friday 29th May, 2009 - BBC 2 Northern Ireland - 11.15 - 11.35

Catch up on all the highs and lows as Blast searches for its very own pop band. We follow the participants from the whirlwind of initial auditions, through a series of master-classes where they get coaching from top industry professionals in performance, singing, style and dance, before the successful members of 'Cloud Nine' are announced. The eight members of the new band then get to lay down their track at the AmmA centre in Armagh, making use of the professional recording studio; and they go on to make a video for the song in the Marketplace theatre.

Take a look at 'Cloud Nine's' final line-up, check out their very first music video and download their track 'Dreams'.

Programme 3: SHOOT IT!
Friday 5th June, 2009 - BBC 2 Northern Ireland 11.40 - 12.00

An Oscar-nominated filmmaker, a young scriptwriter and novice cast and crew make a film in just three days. Have Dan Gordon and Terry Loane met their match? Check out the best new writing and acting talent Northern Ireland has to offer, working with some of the top professionals available today. Watch ‘Lights in a Box’ in production, then enjoy the film itself.

Programme 4: THE FESTIVAL
Friday 12th June, 2009 - BBC 2 Northern Ireland 11.40 - 12.00

Can young people from across Northern Ireland rise to the challenge and produce, shoot and host an Outside Broadcast? Watch all the best bits and catch up with some of the fun from the BBC Blast Festival in Belfast’s Custom House Square as a young crew of Blast participants prepare for The Big Gig, learning the skills and working with top BBC professionals before shooting some of the best young Northern Ireland bands around, performing to a live audience.
