Saint Patrick's Journey

Traditions

There are many legacies or traditions associated with me. One of the most famous is the celebration held each year on the 17th March, St Patrick's Day. People all over the world celebrate my life with worship and song, traditional Irish food and folk music. Many towns and cities hold huge parades.

Another tradition is naming places after me like towns such as Downpatrick and also churches and schools. See how many you can find near you.

There is a traditional 'prayer' called Saint Patrick's Breastplate and legend says that I wrote this myself. It is often sung nowadays on the 17th March.
