Belfast born Catherine Coulter began playing flute at the age of nine. She studied with Colin Fleming, Principal Flute of the Ulster Orchestra before attending the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama 2002-2006. Whilst a student at the RSAMD, Catherine won the John Macgregor Flute Prize. In 2006 Catherine won both the under 23 section and the audience prize at the Northern Ireland Young Flute Player of the Year Competition 2006. Catherine has performed with a number of orchestras, such as Camerata Ireland, London Irish Symphony Orchestra, Chelsea Opera Orchestra, and College Symphony Orchestra. Catherine has given many Music Society recitals throughout Scotland with her Flute and Guitar Duo, Alma Nueva.
