Ireland's most expensive motorway is also its most controversial. The new M3 motorway linking Dublin with Meath and Cavan also runs through the Tara Skeen Valley, beside the ancient seat of Ireland's High Kings; a place of myth and legend.
The Irish Government says the road is a vital pice of infastructure to ease the severe traffic congestion endured by commuters living in the expanding towns in the area.
But conservationists and archaeologists in Ireland and across the world are furious at what they see as a desecration of Ireland's richest area of archaelogical heritage.
Diarmaid Fleming tells the story of this conflict between old and new in Ireland.
