FIREFIGHTER REMEMBERED

Six years ago a firefighter from Dungiven was killed in the line of duty. Joe McCloskey was 50 years old and he left a family of five behind him. The public had long since been evacuated from the Gorteen House hotel, where the fire broke out. But Joe and a colleague were tasked to fight the fire from the roof of a burning store room. When it collapsed, Joe fell into the fire. Joe's widow, Marie, and their children want an investigation into what happened. Sarah Brett spoke to Marie, and her eldest son, Sean. The Fire Service say they have learned lessons from what happened, and worked tirelessly to implement the recommendations of the Health and Safety Executive Investigation.

UNSOLVED MURDER

Ten years ago, an 18 year old man from Ballykelly went to the local chip shop - and never came home. Jonathan Cairns' body was found the next day, in a shallow grave in Loughermore Forest. The police interviewed more than a thousand people about what happened, but nobody has ever been convicted of his murder. Jonathan's parents, Raymond and Hazel, spoke to Sarah Brett on the anniversary of their son's death. You may find parts of this interview upsetting.
