How long you surfing? 3 summers, 2 long winters

3 sentences that describe you/what you do:
When I'm not writing about building things, I surf and do yoga. 1/2 of the Doyle-Einsle crew.

Where and why did you start surfing?
Started in Ireland, seemed like a good reason to spend even more time at the beach, plus I like a challenge.

Any surfing honours, comp wins etc?
Bragging rights to the surfing-induced chillblains could be called an honour.

Your fave board: quiver me timbers?
9'2" Seven surf boards by Brian Bates, shaped for me as my engagement present
6'8"? Walden CD
6' and sommat Channel Islands pop out. I've an unhealthy addiction to the longboard for sure.

"Surfing is getting more popular in Ireland for sure". Discuss: Not enough ladies, too many stinky men!!

Most surf friendly pubs / gigs / eateries:

Rusty Nail, Harbour Bar, Frawleys, Sandinos of course! The list goes on and on.

Favourite Surfer/s and why:
Belinda Baggs, for the graceful female longboarding thing. The whole crew of women on the WCT at the moment because they're redefining women's surfing.

Best thing about surfing:
Glassy peeling walls, a good crew out, the post surf stout.

Your top music/reading/movies/tv/radio, surf or otherwise:

riot Grrls bands, anything indie published, history books, radio 4, radio foyle.

Any ambition as a surfer?
To drop in late, double overhead and vertical without thinking twice.

Dream surf trip:
Already Had it. Arugam Bay, Sri Lanka.

Valerie: As I was coming home back up the Muff road yesterday, I noticed some ice still on the road and slowed down. I still hit the ice the car spun out of contol 2 or 3 times then plunged into a ditch. 2 young lads and a taxi driver stopped to help and got me out of the car and the car out of the ditch. Chivalry is not dead in our wonderful city.
