| CALLS FOR NEW INQUIRY
A Derry man is calling for an inquiry into Catholic-run institutions north of the border.
A nine-year investigation into Irish Catholic-run "industrial schools" and orphanages found that thousands of boys and girls were terrorised - for decades - by priests and nuns in the Irish Republic. The Ryan Report also found that government inspectors failed to stop the chronic beatings, rape and humiliation. More than 30,000 children deemed to be petty thieves, truants or from so-called "dysfunctional" families – a category that often included unmarried mothers – were sent to Ireland's industrial schools, reformatories, orphanages and hostels from the 1930s until the last facilities shut in the 1990s.
Derry man, John McCourt, attended Termonbacca in Derry in the late fifties and early sixties. He's calling for a full investigation of abuse within Catholic instutions on the northern side of the border.

Taxi Driver (text): Hi, Sarah talking about driving - does this city not have the strangest park and ride system? You drive into what is a stone's throw from the city centre and park your car and then get a bus to town.
