The season ended disappointingly for Derry City fans with Cup Final defeat at the RDS, and there was more bleak news when it emerged the club has been forced to make cut-backs.

MCGINN GOES TO CELTIC

After much speculation, the young Derry star, Niall McGinn, finally left the Candystripes for Celtic. It followed a year in which Derry City recorded an eighty thousand pounds loss. The Club chairman Pat McDaid told Ritchie Kelly you can't build a club finances on the basis of selling players. And Ritchie pressed him on just how much the deal was worth.

Derry City Football Club is to make cuts to its playing staff to try to ease the financial pressure on the club. At last night's annual meeting, it emerged that the club recorded an eighty-thousand-pound trading loss for the 2007 season. The Club chairman Pat McDaid has been speaking to our reporter Joe Doran.

Texter, John: You should do a piece on the so called investment that never happened. I'm fed up with all this pie in the sky. Nobody is doing nothing about it. Derry is becoming a failed entity never mind the politics of this place.
