Radio & Music Studios

Studio 3

The studio is specifically designed for radio drama and education productions with a range of acoustics being available, including an "acoustic trap" to simulate an exterior acoustic. A wide selection of props, from a dinner service, doors with a variety of latches, a small staircase, to a fully functioning sink, are available for "spot effects".

The studio can also accommodate small music sessions and large discussion programmes with simple phone-in and outside source contributions.

The technical equipment includes a Calrec 28 channel sound desk. Pyramix, Dalet, Sadie Radia, & Adobe Audition digital audio workstations. TC Electronic, Lexicon & Yamaha reverbs. Soundfield, Neumann, AKG, Beyer and Shure microphones. CD, CD R, DAT, Minidisc, gram deck & quarter inch tape machines complete the comprehensive facilities in this studio.

An extensive CD sound effects and music library is also available.

Studio 5

Designed as a general purpose studio and centred around a Calrec 28 channel sound desk it is ideal for discussion programmes involving comprehensive outside source, ISDN and telephone contributions. Outboard facilities include: Phonebox, Sadie Radia, CD, CD R, DAT, Minidisc, Dalet and a Yamaha reverb. BBC desktop and ENPS newsroom terminals are also provided. The studio is covered by a single web cam.
