Lorraine
Kelly's Factfile
Personal
Life
Lorraine
was born in Glasgow in 1959. Her father John, a television repairman,
and mother, Anne, married when they were both 17. Lorraine was born a
year later. Lorraine’s parents started married life in Glasgow’s
tough Gorbals district before being rehoused in East Kilbride when Lorraine
was 12. "I’m fiercely proud of being Glaswegian and working
class I can sit on that sofa and talk to whoever, and I think a lot of
that has to do with your background.”
Lorraine is married to Steve, who was her cameraman when she was covering
Scotland for TV-am in 1985. "We were pals for a year before anything
happened. I knew I was going to marry Steve from the moment we first started
dating in 1985. As soon as he walked into the office I knew he was the
one.” The couple have an eight year old daughter, Rosie.
Did You Know?
Lorraine is neighbours with Ulrika Jonsson. “We're neighbours.
Rosie and her (Ulrika's) son Cameron, who's five, play together. She bosses
him about something terrible. Ulrika's had a rough time, but is doing
well now and her baby is adorable."
Other
celeb friends include Victoria Beckham: "I was surprised how normal
she is. We talked about walking round the house in tracky bottoms with
baby sick all down your back."
Lorraine famously launched an attack against Liz Hurley on Room 101: "Liz
Hurley went to a friend's wedding and wore a dress which showed her pants,
which upstaged the bride. You do not do that."
Cool
Credentials
Lorraine has released a best-selling aerobics video entitled "Figure
it Out"
She'd like Eamonn Holmes to be Prime Minister: “He’s got the
gift of the gab and the common touch. He could tell you anything and you’d
believe him. He’d be a good Prime Minister.”
Lorraine is monkey mad!: “I like monkeys – they remind me
of my family. But, gorillas are my absolute favourite.”
Lorraine stated earlier in the year that she downed eight Cosmopolitan
cocktails on an empty stomach: “I ended up with a pair of pants
on my head. The next day I was violently ill, but it would take a hell
of a lot more than that to put me off Cosmopolitans.”
