 EASYJET

On Your Behalf looks at the pitfalls of booking on line and hears from a listener who was promised a refund for a delayed flight with EasyJet but has been waiting for it for 10 months!

Easy Jet told us...
We would like to sincerely apologise for the delay in issuing this refund. Our customer services department had requested this several months ago, however the refund onto the credit card was rejected for unknown bank processing reason. Due to an oversight, customer services were not alerted to this.
easyJet have recognised this way of issuing refunds is inefficient, and have now changed the procedure to ensure this does not happen again.

So good news at last! but at least this listener did manage to get someone in EasyJet to address her problem – what if you book on line and simply can’t get someone to talk to!
It’s easy to book with the click of the mouse, but if things go wrong, it’s much harder to get things sorted. For a start how do you find someone to talk to? Listeners tell us that e mails go unanswered, faxes disappear into black holes, and if you are lucky enough to get a phone number, you’re left hanging on interminably!
Holiday Which has been looking at the most typical problems

What’s been your experience of booking on line? Good or bad we’d like to hear it.

Some of you contacted us with your comments

• I flew with EasyJet last year and when collecting my luggage at the airport at home….it was in a mess. Two young ladies from EasyJet who were on their home because the flight was delayed, saw my predicament and came over to help. They voluntarily opened up their office and processed a claim form. Subsequently, the headquarters of EasyJet, in their communications with me, showed such understanding and I was really pleased with the service. The claim was processed and I received compensation without any problems….

• My son has been flying back and forth from Belfast to Newcastle-upon-Tyne for a while. He always uses his student card as ID. He used his student card as id to come back to Belfast at Christmas. But when he tried to use it to return, they refused to accept it. He had to come home and return the next day. Obviously their policy is inconsistent.
