SPANISH SCAM LETTERS

Scam letters from a Spanish company – they say you were caught speeding and you’ve got to pay 108 euros within a fortnight! We hear from a listener who got one of these letters, and as he and his wife have a timeshare in Gran Canaria, they wondered if it was real!

But of course it is a scam - the PSNI have confirmed that the scam’s already been operating in Great Britain and it’s just in the last few days letters have come to people in Northern Ireland.

But the story is not a new one for the British Embassy in Gran Canaria – On Your Behalf hears from the British Consul about the letters and finds out where they’re getting the names and addresses. The PSNI says if you get one of these letters, whether you’ve been driving in Spain in the past or not, do not send any money.

Take a look at the letter.
