CAR
OR CASH
Now we’ve had some ingenious
too good to be true offers through our hands here On Your Behalf,
but this one takes the biscuit.
The official Winners document
from the ILM Club, that hundreds of people have got in the post,
says "You have won a prize - a new Audi A2 worth £15,000
or a cash money prize".
This came to Mr O’Laverty
- "I am pleased to be the bearer of good news and today I have
the honour of being able to offer you my heartiest congratulations.
The management of the ILM Club Prize Allocation Department have
shown me the result o the prize won in the Big ILM Club 2002 promotion
which you entered. I can confirm the following……You
have won a prize - a new Audi A2 worth £15 thousand or a cash
money prize. Just send the details of your credit card..."
Well Mr O’ Laverty is
only 10 and has neither a credit card nor a driving licence - luckily
his Dad put this "too good to be true offer" where it
belongs - in the bin.
Trading Standards in Belfast are very concerned about this latest
mail shot. They’ve received complaints about this promotion
from throughout Northern Ireland. Trading standards advice is to
read all circulars very carefully and not rush to the conclusion
that you’ve won. In fact you are entering a lottery. And like
all lotteries, you may or may not win!
And if you have already sent
off your credit card details, be aware that the commitment is for
eight or nine games a month at a minimum of £4.50 per game
- and the money will continue to be taken from your account until
you decide to opt out!
