SHEPHERD'S GLEN

Residents of the Shepherd's Glen Development in the Waterside area of Londonderry automatically became shareholders when they bought their houses, which means they have certain rights in relation to the running of their area. But with rights comes resposibility.

The problem for the residents of this development, of about two hundred houses, is that they don't appear to have much of either at the moment. Every resident received a letter from a company called Property Management Ireland Limited, who were appointed by the developers (McCormick Properties) to take over the management of the new development.

However the new company is looking for £110 from each householder to cover such things as grass cutting and tree maintenance. However if they don't pay up, a debt collection agency will be brought in and the householder will be liable for the court costs.

The residents are quite annoyed and are challenging the demands from the company.
