GAS
PRICE INVESTIGATION
The airwaves were red with rage when the news broke that Phoenix
prices were to rise by 20% - less than six months after an 10.8%
rise!
The phonelines to Radio Ulster’s Nolan Show and Talkback,
were inundated with unhappy customers who felt that they’d
been sold a pup when Phoenix said
“Come home to the benefits – come home to the savings
– come home to the freedom of stable fuel prices. With natural
gas there are no up and down running costs – just constant
heat and hot water at a constant price, all year round”

The Minster for Enterprise
Trade and Investment says there needs to be an urgent investigation
into the Phoenix Natural Gas Price rises.
It’s been a week since Phoenix Natural Gas announced a 20%
rise in gas prices – on top of the 10% increase last October.
Many householders who made the switch
to gas, feel cheated – they’re tied to the one supplier
and powerless to do anything about the rising prices.
Yesterday the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment, Ian
Pearson met with political representatives expressed deep concern
over the increases. He said the
scale and timing was particularly disappointing and he called for
an urgent investigation and has asked the NI Authority for Energy
Regulation to report back to
him by the end of March.
On Your Behalf talked to the energy regulator and raises the questions
you want answered.
