YOUNG CONSUMER OF THE YEAR 2004

On Friday 5th March I was delighted to act as question master at the Young Consumer Quiz 2004 organised by the General Consumer Council and Trading Standards Service.
Four teams were tested on their knowledge of consumer rights and responsibilities,
• Abbey Grammar Newry,
• Ballymena Academy,
• Methodist College Belfast
• Thornhill College, Derry.

The winners were Abbey Grammar, Newry – well done to their team!

Abbey Grammar School and Me

And for the very first time, as well as the quiz this year there was a new project strand of the competition sponsored by the Food Standards Agency. 9 schools throughout Northern Ireland set about the task of designing a newsletter, not only on consumer rights but food safety, diet and nutrition.

The winner of the project competition was Lisnaskea High School. Well done for creating a great newsletter, which will be published and sent to all the schools
