Free TV Licence for the over 75s

Are you over 75? Do you have a TV Licence?
Well you may not know this, but although you don’t have to pay for it, you do have to apply for it!
According to TV Licensing, as many as 1 in 4 people aged over 75 may be eligible for a free TV licence and haven’t claimed for it.

The facts
• Anyone aged 75 or over is entitled to a free TV Licence for their main home
• The licence covers any other household members living at this address
• People aged 74 can apply for a short term licence which will be valid until the end of the month before their 75th birthday
• To claim for the over 75’s free TV licence, call 0870 241 6468
• Or call to your local post office –
• You must supply your name, date of birth, address and National Insurance No

And in answer to a listener’s query – if you’re in the Republic you get a free licence if you’re over 70 - Or if you’re in receipt of certain benefits.
