The envelope revealed that we had been booked into a Zorbing session. This caused some small anxiety as we had just finished a large lunch. It was a beautiful, hot, sunny day which normally would be ideal, however the sunshine had heated the Zorbing ball to sauna like conditions! Danielle quickly decided that I would be the human guinea pig - a woman’s prerogative!

I dived in and strapped myself in opposite Paul, the runner, who had a camera attached to his head in order to catch the full range of my facial expressions as I spun down the slope. Once at the bottom of the hill, and reunited with a super cool Danielle, the reward of a relaxing dip in the hot tub was much appreciated!

BACKGROUND

The owner, Robert Carmichael and his sister Sarah-Louise came across Zorbing in New Zealand and have been running their operation for a year. There are two balls on site one of which has 15 gallons of water added to the ball. Clients can book a session in the hot tub after their Zorbing experience. 'The Jungle' also offers other activities on site including archery and paintballing.

WHAT TO SEE AND DO

There are two types of Zorbing available - Harnessed Zorbing or Hydro Zorbing. Clients are strapped into the dry ball while clients in the water filled ball are not harnessed in so that they 'bob' up and down in the water. Booking is by reservation only. Check the website for health and safety restrictions and advice on what to wear.

COST

Hydro/Harnessed - £15 per person for the first roll and then £10 per person for each roll thereafter. Hot tub £6 per person for a 40 minute session.

Zorbing opens from early April and runs until the end of October. Sessions are subject to weather conditions, such as high winds.
