One of our favourite pastimes - shopping for food. We arrived at Kenny and Jennifer's farm pretty hungry after our latest, deeply chilly, water based activity. The first thing we spotted were some great looking cakes and it turns out that the shop also stocks local produce, from Armagh apple juices to jams and chutneys.
To be honest we may have got a bit carried away as it all looked so tasty. We ended up buying rib eye steaks from their Longhorn cattle, sausages from the outdoor reared pigs, free-range eggs and some traditional bacon. When we got to Gosford Castle we got stuck into preparing our barbeque and the short wait for the meat to cook was worth it.
BACKGROUND
The Gracey family have farmed at Forthill since the 1700s. The name 'Forthill', which is ancient for fort, derives from a circle of trees that are still on the farm. Traditional breeds of cattle and pigs, such as the Belted Galloway and Longhorn Cattle, and Gloucester Old Spots and British Saddleback pigs, are reared without the use of antibiotics, hormones or growth promoters.
WHAT TO SEE AND DO
Forthill farm sells traditionally reared beef and pork and also stocks jams, chutneys, cakes, fruit and veg etc. from local suppliers. Shoppers can see the livestock grazing in the surrounding fields and, when the season is right, see piglets and young cattle.

Prices vary so contact the farm direct by telephone, or email any queries to info@forthillfarm.co.uk
