Dear Agnes, My friend recently clicked on an email and caught a virus. Is he contagious? Yours,OliverA:Dear Charles, This is indeed a conundrum. I would advise using the internet to search for a similar antique. There are proper search techniques you can use to track down a rare item.

Step 1
There are various search engines to choose from. Be specific about the item you’re looking for.
Step 2
Use correct syntax. How you phrase what you look for will make it easier for you to find it.
Step 3
Use the + symbol to make sure the search engine finds all the words you added not just some of them for example +antique +China +Doll.

Step 4
by putting quotation marks around the phrase you can get the web pages to show the exact term in the order that you specify for example “Antique China Doll”
Step 5
If it is an unusual ornament you might find that looking on an Auction Site is your best bet.
Step 6
Ensure you read and understand the process involved in each auction site before registering.

Step 7
Do take note of tips and advice they give in relation to bidding, watching and creating user ID.
Step 8
Once you have registered you can search the site for the hard to find item you need.
Step 9
Here is an example of an online auction BID. When you’ve found what you’re looking for, you can bid for it. Ensure that you have a secure method of payment such as paypal (see Q4).

Never pay with cash or instant money transfers. These methods of payment are banned on most auction sites because they are unsafe.
