The group originates from a Creative Writing class with tutor Ann
McKay in the Centre for Lifelong Learning of Limavady College of
Further and Higher Education. The class began in February 2002,
and has been running now for four years. The group has published
two anthologies – Flowing with the Roe in 2002, and
I’ll Take You There in 2004. Group members have published
and broadcast their work widely. Others like to develop the practice
of writing creatively for personal enjoyment. Some of the writers
want to revive their memories of the life of the place and its people,
landscape and language.
The classes involve reading and discussing a variety of literature,
writing spontaneously, and the reading and constructive criticism
of members’ work. Ideas and information (on literary events
and outlets for writing) are exchanged. New members are always welcome.
The Creative Writing class meets weekly on Monday afternoons in
the Centre for Lifelong Learning of Limavady College.
