Programme 5 Stephen
Rea
Tá cliú agus caill ar an aisteoir Stephen Rea le fada an
lá óna chuid oibre le
“Field Day” thart fá fiche bliain ó shin go
dtí na scannáin mhóra “The Crying Game”
agus “Michael Collins”. Tá liosta na gcreidiúintí
ag méadú leis agus is é an bheart
is déanaí atá déanta aige na an scannán
úr Gaeilge “Fluent Dysphasia”.

Stephen
Rea is famous here in Ireland not only for his work over 20 years ago
with the Field Day company but also box office hits such as “The
Crying Game” and “Michael Collins”. “Fluent Dysphasia”
is a short film directed by Daniel O’Hara in which Rea plays the
role of a single father who is more interested in a night out with the
lads than communicating with his only daughter, but everything changes
after a drunken binge when he wakes up the following morning, mysteriously
speaking perfect Irish – which he never could before – and
having forgotten how to speak English!
Scitsifréine
Is
lipéad é an focal scitsefréine a bhfuil cuid mhór
aineolais ag baint leis seachas i
measc lucht leighis. Tá duais mhór de chuid an Comhlachais
Náisiúnta Drámaíochta,
Gradam na hAmharclainne, bainte ag Maria Ní Mhurchú don
drama úr “Imithe le Gealaí”. Is é sa
dráma seo ná cúntas pearsanta Uí Mhurchú
ar an ghalar a d’fhulaing sí féin.

It is an illness about which there are many misconceptions
and apart from being very much misunderstood, Schizophrenia is also greatly
feared; most of what people think they know about schizophrenia is wrong
but a new play “Imithe le Gealaí” by Maria Ní
Mhurchú may help dispel some of the myths surrounding an illness
from which she herself has suffered.

Road
Bowls
Is cluiche ársa í bollaí
bóthair a n-imrítear le bol iarrain agus atá á
chleachtadh in Éirinn leis na cianta, deirtear go dtáinig
an cluiche go hÉirinn thart ar an seachtú nó an t-ochtú
haois déag agus gur glacadh isteach é ón Éigipt.
Sa lá atá inniu ann imrítear bollaí go príomha
i gceantracha tuaithe in Ard Mhacha agus i gCorcaigh go príomha
maraon le pócaí beaga scaipthe thart ar an tír. D’athraigh
rialacha an chluiche giota beag thar na blianta ach tá an chluiche
a bheag nó a mhór bunaithe ar an tseanstíl a bhí
in úsáid nuair a tháinig sé ar an tsaol. Fuair
Céara agus Michelle an deis lá a chaitheamh i gcuideachta
Chumann Bol Ard Mhacha agus triall a bhaint as!

Road Bowls is an ancient game which can be traced back
to the Pharoah in Egypt and is played competitively today primarily in
County Cork and in north Armagh. The game itself in its present form began
to emerge in the 17th and 18th centuries. Stone bowls and iron bowls were
used during this period of transition.
