Dóiteán Botha Kirkintilloch

Tá Conradh na Gaeilge Ghlaschú ag láithriú taispeántais a chuireann síos ar dhála, iarmhairt agus thionchar buan Dhóiteán Botha Kirkintilloch, 1937, nuair a fuair deichniúr óg de ‘tattie howkers’ as Éirinn bás anabaí. B’as Acaill, Maigh Eo uilig iad i gcroílár na Gaeltachta. Ba bhrónach tuirseach an scéal é, ach chothaigh sé dlúthchairdeas idir daoine in Kirkintilloch agus in Acaill ó shin. Comóirfidh an taispeántas 70ú bliain Dhóiteán na Botha i Meán Fómhair … Pléann Réamonn Ó Ciaráin an scéal truamhéilleach le Lynette Fay
Conradh na Gaeilge in Glasgow presents an exhibition describing the circumstances, aftermath and lasting effects of the Kirkintilloch Bothy Fire, 1937, when ten young Irish ‘tattie howkers’, were tragically killed. They all came from Achill, County Mayo, in the heart of the Gaeltacht. Although the event was sad and tragic, it led to the fostering of close relations between people in Kirkintilloch and Achill thereafter. The new exhibition will commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Bothy Fire in September 2007. Réamonn Ó Ciaráin talks to Lynette Fay about this tragic tale
