Ateangaireacht san Eoraip

Ar an chéad lá de mhí Eanáir na bliana seo, tugadh stádas oifigiúil teangan an Aontais Eorpaigh don Ghaeilge. Agus cad é? Cén difir a dhéanann sé seo don teanga agus cad iad deiseanna a chuireann an stadas seo ar fáil do lucht labhartha na Gaeilge? Labhraíonn Lynette Fay le Ciarán Mackin as Iúir Chinn Trá atá i mbun cúrsa ar Theicnící Ateangaireachta Comhdhála faoi láthair, cúrsa nárbh fhéidir leis tabhairt faoi murach teanga oifigiúil de chuid an Aontais Eorpaigh í an Ghaeilge.

On the first of January this year, Irish became an official language of the European Union. But so what? What difference does this make for the Irish language and what opportunities does this status provide? Lynette Fay talks to Ciarán Mackin who is currently studying a course in Conferencing Interpreting Technique, a course he could not be pursuing unless Irish was an official EU language.
