DA MacDa

DA MacDa

A bloody power struggle was underway between local Irish chieftains in 1127. One such chieftain, Da MacDa had a bright idea. Why not marry his daughter off to a wealthy Englishman called Norman, inherit some money and invite the brothers-in-law over to fight his battles for him? Simple!

Err... not so. Norman thought Da's daughter was ugly, but whilst in Ireland he decided to take over the whole country. Thus Da MacDa can be held responsible for inviting the English into Ireland and starting the Norman Invasion.

Something modern Da does not talk about at Sinn Fein meetings.
