Andrew de Boyne 1100

Andrew de Boyne 1100

The earliest record of an Uncle Andy is that of Andrew Bishop of Boyne. Andrew studied religion at an unknown French University and on arriving in Ireland quickly established the Free Nasturtium Church in Ireland. His symbol was apparently the Nasturtium flower which he used to good effect during his oratories.

Indeed Andy's town is thought to have been named after one such sermon.

Each orange petal represented the Trinity of Sin - drinking mead, listening to Elvis the minstrel and chasing maidens.

200 years later a cult of Andrew de Boyne became established resulting in the circulation of many relics.   Locks of hair were prized and many shrines were built to preserve them.

This carving on the gable of a Boyne Church is thought to be the only surviving likeness of him.
