Elizabeth Kuti's haunting new play explores the world of a medieval Glasswright
who, faced with starvation, accepts a commission for a stained glass window
commemorating the wife of a wealthy patron. At first there is joy at this
lucrative salvation but this soon turns to despair as the Glasswright
finds it impossible to satisfy his benefactor because his wishes are a
contradiction of what the dead woman wants of him.
This tautly written fable about the elusiveness of art and the perils
of being commissioned stars Tim McInnerny as The Glasswright, struggling
and failing to serve two masters.
With Nickolas Grace, Amy Marston, Robert Price and Jasmine Hyde.
Directed by Eoin O’Callaghan
Liz Kuti’s recent Radio work includes May Child, starring Patricia
