SYNOPSIS

Paul Reid, Lynda Baron and Michael Rawley Young Dubliner Shane has longed to play for his dream football club in the Premiere League. So when he is spotted by English scouts he makes the decision at a very young age to leave his family home in Dublin to follow his goal.

This is the story of what happens when brilliant young footballers, in their early teens, who train for years with a club only to see their glittering football career slip from their grasp at the last minute. What happens when you have to go back home and pick up the pieces?

Dermot Bolger
Award winning writer, Dermot Bolger, has been at the heart of the new wave of Irish writers. His novels include: The Family on Paradise Pier (2005), The Valparaiso Voyage, Temptation, Father’s Music and The Journey Home.
Dermot’s plays include: The Lament of Arthur Cleary and In High Germany.
Dermot devised and edited the highly acclaimed Finbar’s Hotel and its sequel Ladies Night at Finbar’s Hotel (which he adapted for Radio 4). Dermot is a regular contributor to Radio 4.
