Synopsis:
Dan Quixote by John Morrison - When a man sporting a full size sombrero,
steps off a flight from Malaga and announces to customs officials that
he is Don Quixote de la Mancha, it’s assumed that alcohol or insanity
are at work.
But this Don is neither drunk nor demented – he’s just been
going through a difficult phase in his life. Luckily the errant knight
is met by Sandy Palmer, a taxi driver who understanding his disposition,
assumes the role of Sancho Panza – his good and honest servant.
But their adventures together through the streets of Belfast reveal that
Don, or Dan as he is really known, has a more complicated history than
Sandy at first imagined. Dan’s family – a litigious bunch
- is eagerly awaiting his return and have hired a private detective to
find him. Dan on the other hand has other ideas.
John Morrison is from Belfast. His stage play Stranger in Paradise was
produced by Tinderbox Theatre Co, in Northern Ireland (1997). For screen
he has had a TV drama Innocent Party produced as well as the short film
The Rules of Golf. He regularly writes dramas for BBC Education which
are broadcast on Radio Ulster and is also the author of the Radio 4 Afternoon
Play MacMorris (2004).
