Synopsis
Recent reports stating that 2/3 of all personal debt in Europe is sourced
in the UK and that more and more of us are opting for Bankruptcy as the
only way out, prompted Wendy Oberman to take a closer look at how many
of us, live now and pay later in 21st century Britain.
Madelaine Greene – a fairly typical single mother, loses her job
and borrows heavily to cover the immediate shortfall, only to find that
a second charge on her mortgage is the only way to repay that initial
debt. A year passes very quickly, and with her credit cards maxed out,
and her mortgage seriously in arrears, Madelaine gets her first call from
Barry the Bailiff.
And thus begins a relationship of convenience and interdependence, such
as Madelaine could never in her life have imagined.
With Penny Downie as Madelaine
And Chris Ellison as Barry the Bailiff
