Logline:

Pauline Collins is The Ambassador

Epsiode 1: Pauline Collins as the new British Ambassador to Ireland finds no loyalty from her own staff when a British submarine is accused of sinking an Irish trawler. The MI6 officer (Denis Lawson) uncovers the real story.
Episode 2: Ambassador Smith (Pauline Collins) takes in the battered wife of a Foreign Diplomat for refuge in the Embassy but evidence emerges which threatens to end her diplomatic career.
Episode 3: Ambassador Smith risks her career when she realises her own son may be involved in smuggling drugs into Dublin.
Episode 4: With the Embassy under siege and her secretary taken hostage, Ambassador Smith places her trust in someone who betrays her - a man she called her friend.
Episode 5: A Rent Boy dead in his bed leads a British Government Minister to order a cover-up. The facts are kept from Ambassador Smith until the truth leaks out, threatening to jeopardise peace talks and the Ambassador’s career.
Episode 6: MI6 fear Ambassador Smith has been targeted for assassination but she refuses to
compromise her official engagements. The risks increase when she is called upon to suppress
the dangerous memoirs of an old friend and former diplomat to the North and a bomb explodes.

Logline:

Pauline Collins is The Ambassador

Episode 1 - The Road to Nowhere: Ambassador Smith (Pauline Collins) finds happiness with her new lover (Peter Egan) but when a break-in at the Residence reveals she has a dangerous enemy within her own circle, Smith is forced to make the hardest choice of her career.
Episode 2 - Vacant Possession: Britain and Ireland are brought to the brink of violent confrontation over ownership of Rockall. Ambassador Smith enlists the help of MI6 agent Stone (Denis Lawson), but the plan backfires when Stone is accused of rape.
Episode 3 - Cost Price: Ambassador Smith is torn between love and duty when her lover Cochrane is kidnapped. MI6 agent Stone goes undercover to extricate him - but the price of failure could be Cochrane’s life.
Episode 4 - Unholy Alliance: When a British family enlists the Embassy’s help to recover their son from a Dublin cult, Smith has to confront charismatic cult-leader Cornelius (Jack Dee).
Episode 5 - A Matter of Life and Death: Ambassador Smith finds herself at the centre of a diplomatic and emotional storm when a young British girl in an Irish prison asks for help.
Episode 6 - Getting Away With Murder: Deputy Ambassador Tyler (William Chubb) is accused of murdering his wife. -Diplomatic immunity would save him, tough Smith chooses to prove his innocence - but what if Tyler is guilty?
