One
of Ireland's busiest actors, Owen Roe has played major roles
on other television series and is an award-winning playwright.
Despite the variety of roles he's played, Owen always welcomes
the seasonal return to the Ballykissangel set. The Examiner
met Owen during the filming of series six. |

So Kieran
is back. How is that?
It's great. It's great coming back in to something that had lost
Tony and we needed something strong to get us back on our feet again.
So with Kieran coming back on board it has been a fresh start for
him and a fresh start for all of us, which it had to be. It is Ballykissangel
but it's Ballykissangel mark two. This time there has been a clean
break, brand new look, a very entertaining and solid script.
This time
last year when The Dooley's were entering for the first time they
were central but this year they are even more central. How does
that feel?
It
has been great because I've always been a fan of Ballykissangel
and now that I'm no longer a blow in it's a nice feeling. You feel
very fortunate because it's a different kind of show and it's different
from week to week and so it's very challenging for an actor to be
doing that. One week you are dealing with a domestic issue then
another you're dealing with a scam or something, so to be brought
in to it more centrally is great.
Paul Dooley is a very stern character at times whereas Owen Roe
is very comedic. Do you get a chance to bring some of the comedy
into Dooley.
I find this time round that I've go a lot more comedy to play
with, which is great. Dooley may seem stern but he is funny with
it.
How on earth
does Oonagh put up with him?
I have no idea. She obviously loves him!
